Spiral Plating has undoubtedly improved the way microbiologists prepare spread plates in busy laboratories.  By eliminating the need for serial dilutions and reducing materials and labour, spiral plating has a real impact on productivity, quality and profitability.

With simple, innovative technology, the IUL Eddy Jet 2W revolutionises spiral plating, making a spiral plater an affordable and viable purchase for your lab. With up to 25 different spiral distributions, it can produce surface plating CFU counts as well as antibiotic assays.

The Eddy Jet 2W avoids all the complicated cleaning cycles, disinfectant preparation, cross contamination, complex liquid handling, stylus calibration and noisy vacuum pumps which impede the advantages of spiral plating.

The Eddy Jet 2W is designed to literally switch on and go, without the daily set-up routines required of other spiral platers.   Simple to use touchscreen control means key staff can be utilised effectively, while the Eddy Jet 2W can be easily operated by a technician.

Unlike other spiral platers, the Eddy Jet 2W does not use a permanent syringe to dispense every sample.  The syringe can be discarded or it can be used again to dispense from the same sample – you set the parameters.  There is no risk of wear and tear damage which can affect the deposition.  There is no waiting for a cleaning cycle to first administer bleach then distilled water to rinse a permanent syringe.  This critically protects against cross contamination or false negative results, caused by bleach residue.

Confidence in your results is a key feature of the Eddy Jet 2W.  Where other spiral platers will require traditional serial dilution and complicated methodology to conduct calibration, the Eddy Jet 2 can be calibrated by the user far more easily, accurately and quickly.

IUL have developed a beautifully streamlined approach to manufacturing which ensures costs are kept low, without compromising their reputation for quality.  This means that the Eddy Jet 2W is affordable to buy and very low cost to maintain and service.  In fact, for less than the cost of most spiral platers on the market, you can seriously streamline your workflow by linking the IUL Eddy Jet 2W and the IUL Flash & Go automated colony counter.

The IUL Flash & Go detects colonies or haloes according to colour and records a count or measure. It can also be used in Phage plaque assays, Ames testing for enumeration, measuring inhibition zones for antibiotic potency and antibiotic susceptibility testing (AST).
